Your Event - what you can be sure of...

Whether it is your first time organising a function or you’re a seasoned pro it is always a little worrying having to rely on third-party event suppliers. Unfortunately DJs can be amongst the most unreliable as many are hobbyists or too wrapped up in the ‘Superstar DJ’/“I’m an artist, man” mentality to actually do what you need. Playing music is what I do at your ‘do’, understanding your requirements and preparing the music for your function is my function.

Here is what DJ Alan Duval, The Music Man will do for your event:

  • Give you as much input into the play list as you want – from the background music to the party you may want to dictate every last song that is played (though I will always recommend having a ‘Plan B’), or you can give me a few directions and leave the party to me. I can help with finding specific music for Theming, too – I have a comprehensive archive of over 25,000 songs from ‘40s swing and vocal jazz to modern rock, house and acid-jazz as well as all of the usual party favourites.

  • Have your requests on the day of the event ready to be played at the appropriate time.

  • Set up and sound check with the right equipment for the venue and the number of guests, and complete this at least 45 minutes prior to your guests’ invited arrival time (location permitting). If this includes liaising with your event audio/video suppliers I am happy to talk DJ jargon and equipment requirements direct with them.

  • On the night of the function the volume should be a balance between loud enough for a party atmosphere on the dance-floor but quiet enough to allow conversation.

  • If there are any aspects of my performance that you need modified during the function just let me know, I am happy to take direction from you – it’s your function, after all.
